On the morning of May 7, 2025, at Meeting Room B3-03, the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Labor and Social Affairs (Campus II) held a workshop on the topic “Writing Research Proposals for Social Sciences in Higher Education Context”. The workshop aimed to equip faculty members and students of the English Language major with in-depth knowledge and practical insights into academic research—particularly, how to develop research proposals in the field of social sciences. The event provided essential foundational knowledge for conceptualizing and writing a research proposal in the social sciences at the higher education level. Furthermore, participants were guided through critical skills needed to write compelling and successful research proposals, with an emphasis on those intended for scholarship or funding applications. The session also offered structured methods for transforming research ideas into concrete proposals through lectures, project work, group discussions, and practical exercises. Additionally, the seminar created a platform where attendees could present, discuss, and receive feedback on their own draft proposals, fostering peer learning and professional growth. The event also served as a space for networking, exchange of ideas, and strengthening the bond between students and faculty.
The speaker, Dr. Đặng Tấn Tín, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, shared valuable foundational knowledge in conducting research in the social sciences. He guided attendees through the essential elements involved in initiating and sustaining research within their academic teaching and learning contexts. The seminar began with an exploration of the basic structure of academic research in education, including how to formulate research questions, design research frameworks, and communicate findings effectively within the academic community. Dr. Tín also provided hands-on support to participants in designing their own research projects—from refining research questions to developing proposals and addressing ethical considerations. His guidance encouraged participants to strengthen their critical thinking in shaping scientific research ideas.
